The Italian holding company IRI, which manages the state's public investments and is reported to be in the process of being wound up, announced it is transferring its merchant bank COFIRI for Euro 503.6 million to a group of Italian investors. A banking services company specialising in business and project funding, COFIRI logged a net profit of Euro 121 millions in 1999 and employs 200 people.
