Lamy practically concludes European section of negotiations in Beijing on Chinese membership to WTO - Impact and significance of this accession

Beijing / Brussels, 23/10/2000 (Agence Europe) - During the third Chinese-European Summit, the Chinese and European leaders confirmed, on Monday, their determination to see China join the World Trade Organisation (WTO) "as soon as possible" and, if possible, before the end of this year. European Commissioner Pascal Lamy was pleased to have been able to clarify, with Prime Minister Zhu Rongji and Trade Minister Shi Guangsheng, the difficulties over which the multilateral trade talks in Geneva...
