SOLVAY of Belgium (turnover of Euro 7.9 billion in 1999 with 33,000 employees) and K+S - KALI UND SALZ of Germany (turnover of Euro 2 billion in 1999 with 9.200 employees) are set to converge their salt production activities via a joint venture so as to become the second leading salt producer, after AKZO NOBEL of the Netherlands.
