The Dutch group PHILIPS has acquired a 12% stake in DIGIMARC CORPORATION, a US specialist in patented technologies and applications of digital "watermarks", for an undisclosed amount. Furthermore, PHILIPS is to build a new semi-conductor plant in Germany within the framework of a joint venture with the American company STANDARD MEMS. Both partners will invest $160 million in this new factory.
