Brussels, 06/09/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission supported the four-point strategy proposed on Wednesday by Energy Commissioner Loyola de Palacio, in order to face up to rising oil prices. While insisting on the measures to be taken in order to reduce the European Union's energy dependency and criticising the lack of competition on the prices of oil products in the EU, the Commissioner stressed the role of producer countries in reducing tension on oil markets.
