Initiatives from different Member States aim to implement Community guidelines to combat illegal immigration, unauthorised residence, money laundering, etc.

Brussels, 06/09/2000 (Agence Europe) - Several initiatives were taken by some Member States over recent weeks in the field of Justice and Home Affairs. They have been published in the Official Journal. The OJ issue C/253 of 4 September covers the following proposals:

• Initiative of the French Republic with a view to the adoption of a Council Directive defining the facilitation of unauthorised entry, movement and residence. The aim is to have a coherent approach on aid given to unlawful immigration, as in the following and complementary initiative.
• French initiative with a view to adopting a Council Framework Decision on the strengthening of the penal framework to prevent the facilitation of authorised entry and residence.
• German initiative with a view to adopting a Council Framework Decision on criminal law protection against fraudulent or other unfair anti-competitive conduct in relation to the award of public contracts in the common market.

The Official Journal C/243 of 24 August contains the following proposals:

• Initiative of the French Republic with a view to adopting a Council Directive on mutual recognition of decisions on the expulsion of third country nationals.
• Initiative of the Portuguese Republic with a view to adopting a Council Framework Decision on the standing of victims in criminal procedure.
• French initiative with a view to adopting a Council Framework Decision on money laundering, the identification, tracing, freezing, seizing and confiscation of instrumentalities and the proceeds from crime.
• French initiative with a view to adopting mutual assistance in criminal matters, in particular in the area of combating organised crime, laundering of the proceeds from crime and financial crime.
• Initiative of Portugal, France, Sweden and Belgium with a view to adopting a Council Decision setting up Eurojust with a view to reinforcing the fight against serious organised crime.
• Initiative of Portugal, France, Sweden and Belgium with a view to adopting a Decision setting up a Provisional Judicial Cooperation Unit.
