Brussels, 06/09/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has cleared the creation of a joint venture between British Telecommunications Plc (BT), Japan Telecom Co.Ltd (JT) and Vodafone Air Touche plc (Vodafone). The new joint undertaking, J-Phone Communication, has been awarded a license for the exploitation of third generation UMTS mobile telecommunications in Japan. The Commission has noted that the concentration does not affect the European Economic Area market and has therefore approved the operation.
