Following initial analysis of Davignon Report, Commission should move towards reform of JRC without affecting its status or the way it is funded

Brussels, 03/08/2000 (Agence Europe) - The report drawn up by the high-level panel, chaired by Etienne Davignon, on the implementation of the task of the Joint Research Centre (JRC) clearly places the JRC's task in the long-term and proposes opening it up to other institutions. The report contains suggestions of an organisational nature, urges the JRC not to disperse and recommends that it focuses its activities.
