Summit ratifies Greek entry to Euro in 2001 - Approval of broad economic policy guidelines

Feira, 19/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - Greece will be the twelfth EU Member States to enter into the Euro, the 1st January 2001. The Heads of State and Government gave, Monday morning, their go-ahead to this decision, which the Economic and Finance Council formalised when gathering that evening.

The Greek request, formulated 9 March 2000, already received the favourable opinion of the European Central Bank, the European Commission and the ECOFIN Council. "This decision crowns the remarkable...
