VIVENDI is expected to announce its merger with its subsidiary CANAL + and the Canadian group SEAGRAM, owner of Polygram records and UNIVERSAL PICTURES studio. The operation values SEAGRAM at USD 275 billion. With capitalisation of USD 100 billion, the new venture, VIVENDI UNIVERSAL, will have turnover of USD 65 billion in 2001. VIVENDI is offering USD 77 per SEAGRAM share (which closed at 61 dollars on Friday).
