Reasoned opinion to Portugal for non-compliance with European Directive on drinking water in Azores

Brussels, 15/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - Despite a first warning, Portugal has still not done what is required to improve drinking water quality in the Azores and thus to comply with the requirements of Community legislation. The Commission has also decided to continue the infringement proceedings initiated against this Member State which does not fulfil its obligations under Council Directive 80/778/EEC concerning drinking water.
