Having rejected the first proposals, THOMSON has confirmed that it was in negotiations with the German firm C&N - CONDOR & NECKERMAN concerning its takeover, the German group now proposing 160 pence a share, valuing the group at £1.6 bn. In addition, the German conglomerate PREUSSAG has upped the stakes proposing the British firm 180 pence a share in cash, valuing the group at £1.8 bn. See EI of 14 April.
