Alcan, Pechiney and Algroup maintain their three-way merger plans - New notification to be sent to European Commission in coming weeks

Brussels, 15/03/2000 (Agence Europe) - Alcan and Pechiney intend to present to the European Commission a new notification for their merger plan in two to three weeks, so as to have a decision by June, the Pechiney group announced on Tuesday. The two groups had decided on Tuesday to avoid the prospect of a negative Commission decision by dropping the present merger plan (see yesterday's EUROPE, page 8).
