Recent developments in Mad Cow's disease strengthen favourable guidelines for strong European legislation - Risk materials and geographical risks

Brussels, 07/03/2000 (Agence Europe) - The EU's Scientific Steering Committee (SSC) has studied, without committing itself, the list specific risk materials (SRM). This animal offal identified as a source for transmission of Mad Cow disease that the European Commission is proposing, since 1997, to eliminate it from the animal and human food chain through a Directive. They will have to wait until the beginning of April, date of the next meeting, for the SSC to formally statue on the draft...
