Commission initiates infringement proceedings against Austria and Belgium for legislation relating to animal experiments

Brussels, 21/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission is taking action against Belgium and Austria for failure to comply with or incorrect transposition of the Community directive on animal experiments (86/609/EEC). Details are as follows:

Austria: The Commission is initiating action at the Court of Justice because it considers that the new Austrian law still does not ensure the full transposition of the directive, mainly as far as the obligations of establishments using animals...
