German FRESENIUS MEDICAL CARE, world specialist in renal dialysis with 78,500 patients in 1,070 clinics throughout the world, has acquired the non-American activities of the American company TOTAL RENAL CARE HOLDINGS, that is, 86 clinics specialised in dialysis. The operation amounted to around $161 million. TOTAL RENAL CARE HOLDINGS achieved a turnover outside North America amounting to $125 million in 1999 with 45,500 patients and some 570 clinics.
