13/07/26 (Agence Europe) – The EU Council gave its final green light to the reform of air passenger rights on Monday 13 July (see EUROPE 13904/7). These new rules confirm the existing compensation amounts in the event of a flight delay or cancellation, while now requiring airlines systematically to inform passengers of the compensation and assistance to which they are entitled. In addition, the EU Council recalls that this legislation introduces new rights, notably: - a prohibition on refusing boarding on a return flight on the grounds that a passenger did not take an outward flight (‘no show’); - an obligation to display the price including a carry-on bag from the beginning of the booking procedure; - specific and strengthened rights for persons with disabilities or reduced mobility, children, unaccompanied minors and pregnant women.
