13/07/26 (Agence Europe) – European Disability Forum (EDF) called on Friday 10 July for the rights of persons with disabilities to be integrated into the European Union’s next Human Rights and Democracy Action Plan post-2027. In a submission presented on 2 July during a civil society consultation organised by the European External Action Service, the organisation asserts that this text should address the lack of a dedicated disability plan in the European Union’s external action. It is calling for specific commitments, dedicated funding, the effective participation of representative organisations and monitoring based on inclusive indicators. According to EDF, the rights of persons with disabilities should be taken into account in dialogues on human rights, humanitarian action, digital policies, support for democracy and Global Gateway investments.
