Raffaele Fitto appointed European Commission Special Representative

13/07/26 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Monday 13 July the appointment of Executive Vice-President Raffaele Fitto as the EU institution’s Special Representative to Cyprus. In partnership with the personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General, María Ángela Holguín Cuéllar (see EUROPE 13633/18), Mr Fitto will help to find a long-term political solution to reunify the island. Mr Fitto will engage with stakeholders with a view to preparing the conditions for a resumption of negotiations between the Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot leaders, according to a statement from the EU institution.
