05/05/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 5 May, MEPs on the European Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) approved the European Parliament/EU Council agreement on the ‘payment services’ legislative package, which was reached last November (see EUROPE 13761/7). The agreement on the reform of the Payment Services Directive (‘PSD3’) was validated by MEPs with 55 votes in favour, 3 against and 5 abstentions, while the agreement on the Payment Services Regulation (PSR) was approved with 50 votes in favour, 2 against and 2 abstentions. The Council of the EU approved the inter-institutional compromise on 22 April (see EUROPE 13854/22). (BD)
