30/04/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 30 April, MEPs adopted by a show of hands a resolution calling on the European Commission to apply the European Digital Markets Act (DMA) properly and to step up controls on AI-based search tools and cloud services (see EUROPE 13859/13). They call on it to make full use of its powers of control. MEPs highlight the growing strategic importance of cloud computing services and the increasing adoption of AI-based search tools (such as Google’s AI preview), insisting on the need for tighter control under the DMA. They warn against political pressure from third countries to weaken the DMA and stress that such interference must not compromise the EU’s sovereignty and autonomy to enforce its own rules, according to a statement.
