30/04/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 29 April, the EU delegation to Lebanon, the European Union and the Lebanese Ministry of Social Affairs announced the allocation of €45 million in new European funding to support the Lebanese population. Of this funding, €40 million is earmarked for the AMAN programme, Lebanon’s national cash assistance scheme. This funding will cover five months of payments for 90,000 of the most vulnerable Lebanese families out of the 150,000 currently eligible. The other €5 million will fund institutional reforms within the Ministry of Social Affairs, including updating the beneficiary database to ensure optimal distribution of aid to those in need. “For the first time in many years, EU funding will be channelled directly through a Lebanese government institution”, explained the delegation in a press release.
