30/03/26 (Agence Europe) – The Council of the European Union has extended for one year, until 13 April 2027, the sanctions currently targeting 252 individuals and 53 entities responsible for serious human rights violations in Iran. In mid-March, it adopted new restrictive measures against sixteen people and three entities linked to the repression of demonstrations in January 2026 (see EUROPE 13829/10). These natural and legal persons are subject to the following sanctions: a travel ban and a freeze on assets held in the EU, a ban on the export to Iran of equipment which might be used for internal repression and equipment for monitoring telecommunications. EU citizens and companies are forbidden from making funds available to the listed individuals and entities. (MB)
