30/03/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 30 March, the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) published its recommendations for overcoming the delays in implementing EU rules on the design of the European electricity market. ACER’s monitoring in 2024 highlighted “significant delays” in the implementation of the arrangements, both at European and regional level, “affecting key areas such as balancing of the electricity network, system operation and future capacity”. Among other things, it recommends improving implementation and monitoring, by introducing clearer deadlines and reporting requirements. It also calls for the control framework of the ACER Regulation to be strengthened to ensure that cases of non-compliance by the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) and the Regional Coordination Centres (RCCs) are dealt with consistently and effectively.
