30/03/2026 (Agence Europe) – Since its creation in March 2024, the ‘Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform’ (STEP) has mobilised €29 billion of European funding through various EU funding programmes to support technologies and associated skills in four sectors: digital and cutting-edge innovation, clean and resource-efficient technologies, biotechnologies and defence. STEP reprogrammes European funds from existing programmes with its dedicated calls for proposals. To date, more than 220 calls for STEP proposals are listed on the platform’s portal. Nearly €14 billion of European funds have been mobilised via the Innovation Fund, the Digital Europe programme, the European Defence Fund, the EU4Health programme and the Horizon Europe framework programme.
