EU Council confirms appointment of German Andrés Ritter as European Chief Prosecutor

09/03/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 9 March, the Council of the European Union confirmed the appointment of Andrés Ritter as the European Chief Prosecutor to the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) (see EUROPE B13765A9), who is due to take office on 1 November. He will succeed Laura Codruța Kövesi, whose seven-year term of office expires on 30 October 2026.
