38 MEPs demand suspension of Israel’s visa-free regime due to “persistent and systematic violations of international law”

On Thursday 19 February, 38 MEPs, mainly from the Socialists and Democrats (S&D), The Left and the Greens/EFA groups, sent a formal letter to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, demanding that the mechanism for suspending visa-free regimes for Israel be activated.

The conditions for suspending this mechanism were the subject of a reform (see EUROPE B13661A13), pushed by Slovenian rapporteur Matjaž Nemec (S&D), which came into force on 30 December last year....
