Brussels, 10/02/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 10 February, the European Commission made imports of certain steel welding wires from China subject to registration, which may lead to anti-dumping duties being levied retroactively on these imports. On 11 December, the European Commission initiated an anti-dumping proceeding in response to a complaint lodged by several European companies, which together account for more than 25% of the Union’s total production of welding wire. By way of illustration, the dumping margins calculated in the complaint range from 38% to 52% over the period from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025. However, “at this stage the Commission is not in a position to estimate the amount of possible future liability”. This amount will be determined at the end of the anti-dumping investigation.
