European Commission launches call for applications for group of ocean experts

On Tuesday 10 February, the European Commission launched a call for applications (https://aeur.eu/f/knq ) for the High-Level European Ocean Board, a new group of experts created as part of the European Oceans Pact (see EUROPE 13802/20).

The call is open for four weeks, offering professionals and organisations the chance to help shape the future of ocean governance.

The Commission will select up to 25 members on the basis of a number of criteria, including proven experience in ocean-related fields, the maritime economy and marine or coastal policies (including fisheries) at European and/or international level.

The task of the expert group will be to advise the Commission and contribute to the effective implementation of the European Oceans Pact, to formulate opinions on specific issues related to this Pact and to promote dialogue between its members.

Members will be invited to a first meeting in March 2026 and appointed for a term of up to five years. Meetings will be held once a year. Participation does not give rise to any remuneration, but travel and subsistence expenses will be reimbursed. (Original version in French by Lionel Changeur)
