02/02/26 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 2 February, the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) unveiled its procedure for investigating cross-border energy market abuse under the REMIT Regulation. This Regulation, revised in 2024, gave ACER the mandate to investigate cross-border cases. The Agency has therefore published new rules defining the main stages of its investigations, the related decision-making and the rights and obligations of the persons concerned. However, it explains that it will continue to work with the national regulatory authorities. ACER will begin its cross-border investigations in the second half of 2026. It also plans to open a public consultation for market participants in order to draw up practical guidance under the revised REMIT framework. To see the ACER publication: https://aeur.eu/f/kjb (PLD)
