02/02/26 (Agence Europe) – Welcoming the agreement reached between the Syrian transitional authorities and the Syrian Democratic Forces earlier in the day, the spokesman for the European External Action Service, on 30 January, called on all parties to implement it in a spirit of good faith and compromise. “A full cessation of hostilities is needed to enable the provision of humanitarian aid, the protection of civilians and the return of internally displaced persons,” he stressed in a press release. The spokesman said that the EU was ready to support the implementation of the agreement, which should pave the way for the full integration of the Kurdish armed forces and administration into the Syrian state. The spokesman also called on all parties to ensure the security of the camps and detention facilities and to work to prevent the resurgence of Da’esh. (CG)
