Asylum Procedures – MEPs approve agreements reached with EU Council on ‘safe countries of origin’ and ‘safe third countries’ texts

Brussels, 28/01/2026 (Agence Europe) – Contrary to what we wrote (see EUROPE B13795A14), on Tuesday 27 January MEPs validated the political agreements reached in December with the Council of the EU on the new concept of ‘safe third countries’ and a list of so-called ‘safe countries of origin’ (see EUROPE B13776A7), and not a list of ‘safe third countries’.
