Danish MEP Per Clausen wants to rally European Parliament to demand EU sanctions against US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents

Brussels, 28/01/2026 (Agence Europe)The potential deployment of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to Europe during the Winter Olympics is fuelling “fear of ICE personnel’s potential behaviour in Europe”, said Danish The Left MEP Per Clausen on 28 January.

He wants to rally European Parliament to send a letter to the Commission and the EU Council asking them to “consider appropriate actions” such as travel restrictions against ICE agents or representatives or possibly including ICE on the EU list of terrorist organisations.

The Left’s co-presidents had already sent a letter to the institutions the day before. Upon receiving it, the Commission stated on 28 January that “national security is the sole responsibility of each Member State. [...] Any further questions on the specific measures taken should be directed to the Italian authorities”. The deadline for signing is 3 February.
