European Commission gives itself six months to present a new global security strategy for EU

16/01/2026 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission should present a new security strategy for the European Union “within the next six months”, i.e. still under the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU, confirmed the EU institution’s spokesman in charge of the dossier, Thomas Régnier, on Friday 16 January, the day after the announcement by the President of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen (see EUROPE B13787A1).
