European Commission to begin negotiations with United States at end of January on their Visa Waiver programme’s new security requirements

Having received a negotiating mandate from the Council of the EU on 16 December, the European Commission will begin negotiations with the United States on 29 and 30 January in Washington DC on the ‘Enhanced Border Security Partnership’, a new programme for sharing personal data on visa-free travellers from the EU, according to our information. A second round of negotiations is then scheduled to take place in Brussels in February.
