05/12/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 5 December, the Council of the EU announced that the first ever EU-Jordan summit is set for 8 January 2026 in Amman. “The summit will focus on bilateral relations and further deepening the political and economic partnership, as set out in the EU-Jordan Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership signed in January 2025”, said the Council (see EUROPE 13568/19), adding that current global challenges, including the situation in the Middle East, Ukraine, security, trade and migration, will also be discussed (see EUROPE 13661/18). The EU will be represented by the President of the European Council, António Costa, together with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. (CG)
