EPP rejects S&D and Renew Europe compromise ahead of European Parliament vote on ‘anti-imported deforestation’ regulation

The shadow rapporteurs Pascal Canfin (Renew Europe, French) and Delara Burkhardt (S&D, German) attempted to reach an agreement with Christine Schneider (EPP, German), who is rapporteur for the regulation to combat imported deforestation, on Friday 21 November. The EPP refused the offer.

Compromise was not enough. In the end, Renew Europe and the S&D went further than the European Commission’s proposal (see EUROPE B13735A4), postponing the regulation’s entry into force until 30 June...
