National rules and conformity assessment bodies preventing ERA from playing its full role, according to European Commission

The removal of obsolete national rules on the control of national supervisory authorities and conformity assessment bodies would have enabled the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA) to more fully meet expectations regarding its role in the dual system of vehicle authorisation and safety certification, concluded the European Commission in its assessment published on Friday 7 November.
