25/09/25 (Agence Europe) – The President of the European People’s Party (EPP), Germany’s Manfred Weber, has instructed the party’s Secretary General, Spain’s Dolors Montserrat, and its Vice-President, Greece’s Kostis Hatzidakis, to conduct “an internal scrutiny process” concerning “the role of the ‘Serbian Progressive Party’ (SNS) within the EPP”, the European Christian Democratic party announced in a press release on Thursday 25 September. This process will be conducted in close contact with the leadership of the SNS, the party of Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić. They stress: “This is not an official EPP statutory suspension nor exclusion process, but a thorough and swift internal investigation with open-ended results”. Mr Vučić's close links with the Kremlin and the repression of citizens’ demonstrations raise the question of respect for the values of the EPP party, in which the SNS party has observer status (see EUROPE 13705/19).
