05/09/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 4 September, EU High Representative, Kaja Kallas, met Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, in Doha “to discuss efforts to reach a negotiated solution to the Iranian nuclear issue”, confirmed European External Action Service spokesperson, Anouar El Anouni, on Friday 5 September. According to him, the discussions focused in particular on access by International Atomic Energy Agency observers to Iranian nuclear sites and the state of Iran’s stocks of highly enriched uranium. “The High Representative reiterated that Iran’s obligations under the NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty) continue to apply”, said Mr El Anouni. The spokesperson reiterated that the 30-day period before the return of sanctions did not mark the end of diplomacy, “quite the contrary”, and that diplomacy was ongoing (see EUROPE 13698/3). (CG)
