In the second quarter, seasonally-adjusted GDP rose by 0.1% in the euro area and by 0.2% in the European Union compared to the previous quarter, according to an estimate published by the EU’s statistical office (Eurostat) on Friday 5 September.
Denmark recorded the highest rise in GDP (1.3%), followed by Croatia and Romania (both 1.2%). Decreases were recorded in Finland (-0.4%), Germany (-0.3%) and Italy (-0.1%). Growth was moderate in France (0.3%) and sustained in Spain (0.7%).
