04/09/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday, 3 September, European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib announced that the European Union was mobilising €1 million to help the communities affected by the massive floods that hit Pakistan at the end of August. The monsoon’s torrential rains, combined with the overflow of excess water from Indian dams, caused three rivers to flood, converging on the Pakistani province of Punjab in the northeast of the country. “We are releasing over €1 million in emergency funding to address the most urgent needs of the affected population,” Mrs Lahbib announced on the social network X. According to AFP, at least 29 people have died, and more than 250,000 people have been affected. (BD)
