Europe’s pharmaceutical manufacturers concerned about uncertainty surrounding customs duties

29/07/2025 (Agence Europe)On Monday 28 July, the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) expressed its concerns about the trade agreement between the European Union and the United States, which at this stage leaves the pharmaceutical sector in a state of uncertainty when it comes to tariffs (see other news).Tariffs on medicines are a blunt instrument that will disrupt supply chains, impact on investment in research and development, and ultimately harm patient access to medicines on both sides of the Atlantic”, the EFPIA reacted. The European Federation continues its analysis of the announcements linked to the agreement, stressing that “key implications for the pharmaceutical sector remain uncertain(see EUROPE 13689/1). Pending the outcome of the US investigation, EU pharmaceutical products are exempt from US tariffs. (LC)
