29/07/2025 (Agence Europe) – The European Union is “outraged” by the massacre of Catholic worshippers that took place on Saturday night in Ituri, in the north-east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), said a spokesperson for the European External Action Service on Tuesday 29 July. The attack, attributed to the Ugandan rebel group Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), affiliated to Islamic State, killed at least 43 people, according to the UN. “This horrific campaign against civilians must stop. We stand in solidarity with the victims of these heinous crimes and support the DRC and MONUSCO [United Nations Stabilisation Mission in the DRC - editor’s note] in protecting communities and holding perpetrators accountable”, declared Anouar El Anouni on X.
