29/07/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 29 July, the European Commission approved the signing of an agreement paving the way for Moldova’s participation in the European Union’s programme to support the cultural and creative sectors, ‘Creative Europe’, as of 1 January 2026. The agreement is due to be signed on 2 September during the visit of the European Commissioner for Culture, Glenn Micallef, to Moldova. It will apply provisionally as soon as it is signed. This partnership will enable Moldovan cultural organisations to take part – in the same way as those in the EU – in projects promoting cross-border cooperation, artistic mobility and cultural diversity. Moldova’s full participation in the ‘MEDIA’ and ‘Transversal’ strands of the programme will depend on the compliance of its legislation with the European Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD). The agreement will officially enter into force once it has been ratified by Moldova. (NP)
