16/07/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 16 July, the European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN) unanimously approved, by 40 votes, the agreement with the EU Council on the provisional political agreement concerning the revised River Information Services. This revised agreement, reached in June (see EUROPE 13668/16), aims to further harmonise the exchange of geographical, hydrological and administrative data, and navigation data, instructions in the event of accidents, statistics, customs services, river charges and port dues for those operating on or managing certain cross-border waterways, such as canals, rivers and lakes, and their ports. It thus aims to facilitate the integration of inland waterway transport into a multimodal chain of transport modes. To come into force, it still needs to be approved by the full Parliament in plenary session and by the Council. (AD)
