11/07/25 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 11 July, the Council of the European Union announced the appointment of German police officer Ralf Schröder as Head of Mission of the EU Advisory Mission in Iraq (EUAM Iraq), following the decision of the Member States’ ambassadors meeting within the Political and Security Committee on Tuesday 8 July. Mr Schröder will take office on 16 August, replacing Swedish police officer Anders Wiberg, who has been in post for three years (see EUROPE 12996/21). Since November 2024, Ralf Schröder has been Deputy Head of Mission at EUAM Iraq. Launched in October 2017 to assist in the development and coherent implementation of Iraq’s national security strategy, the mission has a mandate that runs until 30 April 2026. (CG)
