24/06/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 24 June, the members of the European Parliament’s Committee on Development (DEVE) and Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) approved, by 67 votes to 17 with 2 abstentions, the draft report prepared by Robert Biedroń (S&D, Polish) and Nikolas Farantouris (The Left, Greek), assessing the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (see EUROPE 13665/9). Parliament’s position is thus becoming clearer in the run-up to the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development. However, the text still has to be approved at the European Parliament’s plenary session. However, the rejection in mid-June of the ‘Goerens’ report on financing for development revealed the divergent views of European political families on the objectives of international development (see EUROPE 13661/21).
