13/06/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 12 June, the European Commission announced that it was imposing an anti-dumping duty of 131.1% on imports of Chinese vanillin. Vanillin is an organic compound found in vanilla beans as well as other plant and animal sources. The Commission opened an investigation in May 2024 (see EUROPE 13416/22), but did not impose any provisional measures. All Chinese exporters to the EU are subject to the same duty. As it only received one response to its sampling request, the Commission did not use sample companies in its survey, which could have benefited from a different rate.
