24/05/24 (Agence Europe) – On Friday, 24 May, the European Commission announced that it was launching an anti-dumping investigation into vanillin imports from China. Vanillin is an organic compound found in vanilla beans as well as other plant and animal sources. A complaint was filed in April 2024 by the EU’s largest vanillin producer, Syensqo. According to the European Commission, the complainant provided evidence proving that imports of this product from China have increased overall in absolute terms and in terms of market share. This is why it has opened an anti-dumping investigation. Those concerned are invited to send their comments to the European Commission. See the notice of initiation: https://aeur.eu/f/cd8 (LM)
